I arrived in this stark California desert expecting it to be hot but was greeted with cold stormy weather. I hiked for awhile in the early evening hoping for a break in the black sky. While battling the blowing sand my opportunity arrived providing less than thirty seconds to capture this swathe of sunlight illuminating the dune.
